The Boondocks – Sweet and Spicy!

Boondocks4

You have never seen any cartoon like that before. It is a political and spicy entertainment piece that will make you laugh and think more critically about some way too polemic topics. The Boondocks caught my attention a couple of years ago while I was hanging around with my friends in New Orleans. So then I bought my DVDs and started watching them. Oh boy, it is funny! Give it a try! So let me introduce you to the show!

Cantankerous Robert “Granddad” Freeman is the legal guardian of his grandsons, 10-year-old revolutionary and smartly polemic Huey and 8-year-old Riley, a product of contemporary rap culture. Even though they are both boys, they are played by the amazingly beautiful, remarkable actress Regina King. Watch the video and see it for yourself:

After moving the family from Chicago’s South Side to the safety of suburban Woodcrest — also known as The Boondocks — Granddad, which is played by John Witherspoon, hopes to ignore the grandkids and enjoy his golden years in peace.

But the kids have different plans, torturing each other and provoking others in the neighborhood. No matter how wild they get, Huey and Riley are no match for the eccentric elderly man. Watch them with their airsoft gun playing around in the neighborhood.

Back to the granddad, as I had mentioned before, hs is played by John Witherspoon, the father in the movie Friday. Watch them talking about his work. Isn’t it awesome?

This cartoon is meant for adults just like The Simpson, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, South Park and Beavis and Butt-head. So, you will surely encounter foul language and derogatory terms such as the N-WORD.

Before we move on to one of the episodes, I guess it would be interesting to hear what the creator Aaron McGruder has to say regarding The Boondocks and its controversial and polemic topics. This time he makes some polemic statements about Martin Luther King, Jr. Watch it:

Well, but leave the controversies behind and take another step. I would like to thank you for having come this far on this post. So for you to get a feel of what I am talking about:
